The original Baptismal records 1798-1946 are in the Calderdale Archives in Halifax. Microfilm copies of some of the registers may also be available there.
They are also available online at ancestry.co.uk, being were placed there in 2013 as a result of an agreement between Ancestry and the West Yorkshire Archive Service. Images of some of the original registers are available, together with indexed transcriptions (although these should be treated with caution).
Ancestry is a subscription website, but it can also be accessed without charge at most public libraries with internet access, and at branches of WYAS.
The registers for St John the Baptist Church, Ovenden, Halifax, and many other non-conformist chapels in West Yorkshire are also on Ancestry. However, researchers should be aware that the online records are not complete, and that the original registers (where they survive) may need to be consulted.
